Born on April 11, 2001, in Shandong, China.

 

Ziyi Yan is a Glasgow-based artist and illustrator whose practice explores the intersection of mixed media, textile craft, and painting. Her work draws upon subtle sensations and everyday experiences, translating them into a visual language where figuration and abstraction coexist. Through layered colour, tactile materials, and shifting forms, her practice reflects states of intimacy and imagination, inviting viewers to engage with emotions that are often difficult to articulate. Her research interests include speculative biology and the therapeutic potential of art, situating her work within broader dialogues on healing, imagination, and the psychological dimensions of visual experience.

 

She holds an MA in Communication Design (Illustration) from the Glasgow School of Art and a BA in Fashion Design. Her work has been exhibited internationally in London, Germany, Spain, and Italy.
